About

This is the research blog for a project-in-progress by Nina Lager Vestberg.

The project investigates the cultural implications of the transformation of the photographic archive from an analogue, physical and visual environment to a digital, virtual and largely textual one. It interrogates the impact of new technologies on the reception of an increasingly ‘old’ medium, by mapping the convergence of the discourses of memory and technology at the material interface of the photograph.

The aim of this blog is to provide a forum for dissemination and discussion of thoughts, ideas, questions and findings that emerge in the course of this project, and to invite input and response from others who are concerned with similar issues.

Nina’s project is currently supported by a J. Paul Getty Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.
